Meet The Dynasticks - Detroit's Spirit of Polkas

reprinted from their 1989 press booklet

The Dynasticks are a versatile band. We have performed throughout Michigan for over 10 years. By popular demand, we have also taken many roadtrips and performed throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. Although we specialize in polka music (polkas, obereks, waltzes) we also play a variety of popular music from the 40's through the 80's

Tony's interest in music began at the age of 9 which was just the beginning of the many musical talents of which he is capable. He began his music career at the age of 13 at which time he was a self-taught drummer and by the time he was 15, he began performing professionally with the Polka Kavaliers. When he turned 17, he joined and traveled across the United States with Marion Lush. In 1972, he formed his first band, The Dynasticks, during which that time successfully produced 2 albums. In 1980, the Dynasticks decided to take a break.

Having played with numerous well known polka bands such as the Stas' Golonka, Chris, Jack & Music and the Motor City Polka Jacks, he has also contributed to the recordings with The Brass Connection, Dan Gury & the Dyna Dukes, C.J. Lackowski & Polka Magic, The Zug Islanders as well as the Chicago based Dial-A-Tones.

Getting back together with a few new members, The Dynasticks made their comeback in 1985. Four years later, the Dynasticks' 3rd album entitled "Back On Track" was produced. Kempinski is not only responsible for the music arrangements of the Dynasticks, but also oversees any necessary studio work, bookings and MC'ing of all events. The drums, trumpet, bass, guitar, concertina and vocals are also part of his talents.
